MAZDA FINISHES FIRST AND THIRD AT SEBRING

Mario Gear November 21, 2020

QUOTES FROM MAZDA MOTORSPORTS

NELSON COSGROVE
DIRECTOR, MAZDA MOTORSPORTS

“I’m really excited to celebrate this historic win at the 12 Hours of Sebring with everyone at Mazda. This weekend, we joined an exclusive group of manufacturers ever to win this endurance classic. I would like to thank everyone at Idemitsu, Multimatic, and AER for the tremendous support during this unusual season.”

NO. 55 MAZDA RT24-P
JONATHAN BOMARITO

“This year’s 12 Hours of Sebring was the most thrilling I can remember. The ups and downs of motor racing are extreme and the events of this weekend are a good reminder to keep pushing forward. You never know how the race will unfold. I’m so happy for everyone on the Multimatic team and for Mazda! Winning the 12 Hours of Sebring is a huge accomplishment and now we are a part of the Sebring history books.”

HARRY TINCKNELL

“This was a fantastic race for Mazda, finishing first and third in one of the biggest races of the year. The crew has made many sacrifices throughout the year and this makes it all worth it. During the race, our focus was to get the car dialed in and stay out of trouble for the first 10 hours and be fast in the end. We were pleased the strategy played to our benefit this weekend.”

NO. 77 MAZDA RT24-P
TRISTAN NUNEZ

“It was a great day for Mazda. To have both cars on the podium at the 12 Hours of Sebring was an incredible achievement. It was an emotional weekend overall, the No. 77 team fought from the back all the way up to the lead. That unfortunate puncture at the end of the race put us back to third, but a huge congrats to the No. 55 team for taking the win. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed as the win for us was so close. Our engineers and crew executed the entire race perfectly and it was an honor to be a part of it. This result stemmed from determination, hard work, and the will to never stop challenging.”

OLIVER JARVIS

“First, congratulations to the entire Mazda Multimatic team and the No. 55 drivers on winning one of the biggest endurance races in the world. It was a fantastic way to end the season after months of sacrifice and hard work. From a personal point of view, it was heartbreaking to come so close to winning only to be denied by a puncture while leading the race with only 15 laps remaining. This one will take a while to sink in and digest as my teammates and every single member of the No. 77 crew ran a faultless race. A big thank you to everyone involved in this project and I’m already looking forward to Daytona 2021!”

OLIVIER PLA

“We were reminded motorsports can be cruel this weekend when we had a puncture while leading the race with 28 minutes left. Thanks to my teammates as they have been awesome all year, along with the entire crew working on our car.”
